1. Introduction: What's your story?
We are Sûr de Soi!
Amanda: Originally from the Tidewater area, I've called Charlottesville home for over 10 years after attending UVA. Photography became a passion during college, and I honed my skills as a wedding photographer for many years. When I'm not behind the camera, I'm either hitting the hiking trails or whipping up creative cocktails for friends at my Madison County home. My ultimate dream is to write and photograph a book dedicated to the world of craft drinks!
Gailan: I grew up in Virginia Beach but found my way to Charlottesville in 2020 and now I wouldn't have it any other way! A self-proclaimed homebody, you'll find me hanging out with my partner and our feline crew most of the time. My love for photography and an appreciation for beauty in all its forms led me to hair and makeup artistry. The most rewarding part of this work? Helping women see and embrace their natural beauty, and witnessing their confidence soar!
2. What is your experience shooting boudoir?
We have been shooting boudoir clients in our downtown studio for the past two years, but collectively, we have 10 plus years of experience in the portrait photography industry. Boudoir became our passion when we saw that there was a need for an inclusive space in Charlottesville and we are excited for this project to grow to serve people of all body types, gender expressions, and backgrounds.
3. Where will the photo shoot take place?
Sessions happen in our sunny studio in downtown Charlottesville. The space consists of two rooms: a bedroom boudoir set up that has gorgeous natural light, and a more traditional studio space with a variety of backdrops and vintage furniture. Our studio has a private room for changing as well as a space for hair and make up.
4. How should customers prepare for the Boudoir photo shoot?
We strongly encourage each client to book a free consultation ahead of your session to come in and get comfortable with the space, meet us, and plan your session so you know what to expect on the day of the shoot.
5. Will there be a hairstylist and make-up artist?
We include hair and make up in most of our packages to make things easy for you. This way, we can help when touch ups are needed to keep you looking amazing the entire time!
6. What do you do to make your customers feel comfortable for the shoot?
We LOVE to jam! We will put on your favorite playlist and chat while you get ready. Amanda with help guide outfit choices while Gailan makes sure you are looking photo shoot ready. Once we get in the groove, time will fly by and before you know it, you will be out the door feeling great and excited to see your amazing images.
7. Are pictures printed or do you provide a digital file?
We provide a digital gallery that you will be able to download from and print as you please. The number of images depends on the package size you choose.
8. What happens on the day?
Amanda and Gailan will greet you at the studio and we will start with hair and make up. Amanda will guide your outfit choices and Gailan will be making sure you are photoshoot ready! Your session time will be split up between the two photography spaces (the bedroom set and the backdrop set) and we will wrap the shoot when we feel comfortable and confident that we got our best shots!
9. Where will the photographs be used?
We allow our clients to choose if we share their images online for marketing purposes. Some clients are fine with sharing everything, others wish to keep them all private, and some don't mind photos being shared as long as their face is not showing. We totally understand that boudoir is a very intimate setting and we want everyone to feel comfortable during and after the session.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
While all sessions are non-refundable, we want you to be happy so we will do everything in our power to make sure you love your images. We have an open line of communication from start to finish and into the future.
